Bot fly eggs can be a real nuisance to horses. They are laid on the horse's legs, showing up as small yellow eggs attached to the horse's leg hair. If they are not removed, the horse will usually lick/bite them, when they become ingested and continue their lifecycle.
Although bot flies can be dealt with by a prescribed wormer, if you spot the eggs on your horse's legs, you can remove them with a bot knife.
The bot knife is a curved metal knife with a plastic handle that is designed to scrape the bot eggs safely and painlessly from the horse's legs.
